USA Fencing Names 2017 High School All-American Team

(Colorado Springs, Colo.) – USA Fencing is pleased to announce the inaugural High School All-American Team, which includes over 300 fencers from across the nation.

The High School All-American program is designed to recognize high school athletes’ accomplishments on the strip during the 2016-17 season.

Applicants were required to be USA Fencing member in high school, have earned a rating in the current fencing season, be in good academic standing and have showed exceptional character in the community.

The All-American Team is broken down into the following categories:

  • 1st Team USA Fencing All-American: Must have earned or renewed an “A” or “B” during the current competitive season
  • 2nd Team USA Fencing All-American: Must have earned or renewed a “C” or “D” during the current competitive season
  • Honorable Mention Team USA Fencing All-American: Must have earned or renewed an “E” during the current competitive season

All selections will receive a certificate of achievement.

Over half of this year’s selections earned First-Team honors with epee having the most First-Team honorees of any weapon. Nine fencers also earned honors in multiple weapons.

Geographically, 69 honorees reside in California while Medeo Fencing Club in Bridgewater, N.J. leads all clubs with nine selections.
