Dear USA Fencing Family

We want to thank you for your understanding and patience as we have been managing the challenges surrounding the October NAC in Anaheim.

As many of you know, one of the trucks carrying the equipment cargo for the tournament was in an accident on its way to Anaheim. The missing equipment significantly delayed the venue set-up which caused the delayed start on Friday. Many people have reached out regarding the status of the drivers. We are working with the trucking company currently and do know that one of the drivers was hospitalized and we are awaiting more information.

We appreciate not only the patience of our athletes and families, but the great support that was offered from clubs throughout Southern California to assist in getting everything up and running as soon as possible. The fencing family truly came together on Friday to help put together equipment, lay strips and prepare the venue for competition in order to minimize the delays after the trucks arrived.

We also want to thank our tournament officials, volunteers and staff who have worked tirelessly to ensure our athletes will be able to compete this weekend. USA Fencing is well-known for our passionate and committed membership and this challenge has demonstrated again that we have great people involved in our sport who come together to support each other in all circumstances.

Please know that we understand the impact that the challenges in Anaheim have caused for all of our athletes, their families and tournament officials. While the accident and the delays that it caused were unforeseen, we are very sorry for any inconvenience this has caused.

Sincerely,
Donald K. Anthony Jr.
USA Fencing President
