(Colorado Springs, Colo.) – The following are announcements from the USA Fencing Sports Performance Department for wheelchair fencers regarding the upcoming wheelchair camp and competing in international competitions:

USA Fencing to Hold Wheelchair Fencing Camp in February

USA Fencing will be hosting a wheelchair fencing camp from Feb. 21-25 at the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

The camp will be led by Mickey Zeljkovic (Huntingdon Valley, Pa.), the head coach of the 2017 Wheelchair World Championship team.

Included with the camp is airport transportation, meals and a room at the training center. Each fencer is responsible for his or her transportation to and from Colorado Springs.

Space is limited to 20 fencers. If you are interested in attending, please email Brandon Dyett at b.dyett@usafencing.org by Monday, January 22.

If more than 20 fencers apply, fencers will be selected based on the USA Fencing Wheelchair Rolling Point standings. All interested fencers will be contacted by Friday, January 26 about whether they have been accepted.

If you have questions, please email b.dyett@usafencing.org.

Wheelchair Fencing Athlete and Referee Licenses

New in 2018, all wheelchair fencing athletes and referees must have an IWAS license to participate in international events. The license costs $30 and must be renewed at the beginning of each year.

Fencers who intend to compete at the Montreal World Cup April 27-29 must have received their license prior to being entered into the tournament.

Classification for New Athletes

If you have not been classified and plan to attend an international event this season, all new wheelchair fencers must fill out the athlete evaluation consent form and the medical diagnostics form listed below.

All forms and medical supporting evidence must be submitted by USA Fencing to IWAS and must be received by Brandon Dyett (b.dyett@usafencing.org) 45 days prior to the event.

Please note that new athletes must arrive one day before the start of their first IWAS competition to receive their official classification.
