2018 December NAC Div I Epee Initial Seeding List

The following is the list of fencers who have earned a bye into the second day of competition at the December NAC Division I Men’s and Women’s Epee events.

*Please note the following important guidelines for this season:

Division I Men’s & Women’s Epee Withdrawal Procedure

If a fencer who earned a bye withdraws from the competition, the next highest seeded (as of the epee seeding deadline) fencer without a bye will be given a bye into the second day of competition.  In order to administer this process effectively and to be fair to all fencers, please take note of the following rules:

  • If you earned a bye and need to withdraw from the competition please contact USA Fencing via email by 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time the night before the start of the FIRST day of competition for your event.
  • Please email changes@fencingtc.org and international@usafencing.org. Phone calls will not be accepted, the communication must come via email. Communication must come from the fencer or his / her parent or legal guardian if the fencer is under 18. Withdrawal will not be made if the communication comes from teammates, coaches, friends, etc.
  • If any fencer seeded in the top 62 withdraws, the next highest seeded fencer on the list will be contacted as soon as possible so that he or she can prepare to only fence in the second day. Please make sure your USA Fencing membership profile is up to date so we can contact you immediately if necessary. Please note that you may not receive notification of this change until the morning of the competition.
    • If the withdrawal occurs between the regular entry deadline and 10 days prior to the start of the tournament when preliminary seeding is established, the next highest seeded fencer as of the regular entry deadline  will be moved into the top 62.
    • If the withdrawal occurs within 10 days of the start of the tournament, the next highest seeded fencer on the preliminary seeding list will be moved into the top 62. The preliminary seeding list is based on the USA Fencing National Rolling Point Standings as of 10 days before the start of the tournament.

These guidelines have been put in place to ensure the competition is run as efficiently as possible.  This will enable all pools on the second day to be filled with seven fencers and create a better competitive experience.  Thank you in advance for your help.  If you  have any questions, please email international@usafencing.org.

Event Seeding Procedure

Fencers who receive a bye into the second day are guaranteed a bye, but not a seed.  Event preliminary seeding will be done approximately 10 days prior to the start of the tournament with final seeding completed at the start of check-in for the event.

Therefore, changes to the National Rolling Point Standings between the regular entry deadline and the establishment of the preliminary seeding 10 days prior to the start of the tournament will be taken into account. However, athletes who earn a bye into the second day of competition will be seeded no lower than No. 62 regardless of changes in the NRPS between the regular entry deadline and when the preliminary seeding is established 10 days prior to the start of the tournament.
