Head Fencing Coach, Wayne State University (Detroit, Michigan)

Job Description:

Wayne State University, an NCAA Division II member, located in the cultural district of Detroit, invites applications for the position of Head Coach for Men’s and Women’s varsity Fencing. Collegiate Varsity Fencing is a Division I program.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities will include overall direction and oversight of the intercollegiate sport program including, but not limited to, the recruitment of quality student-athletes; teaching and instruction of skills and techniques inherent in the highest level of competitive play; scheduling; organizing and conducting practices/competitions; budget management; overseeing student-athletes' academic progress; fundraising; provide management and direction to assistant coaches and team personnel; community involvement; and compliance with NCAA, GLIAC and Wayne State University rules and regulations all while incorporating the department's strategic goals and on-going initiatives.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred.

Under the NCAA Bylaw 11.1.6 Sports-Safety Training, each head coach and all other coaches who are employed full-time at an institution shall maintain current certification in first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automatic external defibrillator (AED) use.
