Hobbies: Playing the fiddle/guitar/banjo in his two bands (one bluegrass, one more eclectic Americana and Old Time music); playing classical music on the piano; singing in a church choir; teaching religious history in universities and grad schools; opera; Homeric Green, Anglo-Saxon poetry and reading the works of George Herbert, Gerard Manley Hopkins, and Jane Austen; and gardening
Favorite Fencing Memory: Winning nationals in 2016, and being on the 2nd place saber team at the 2017 Worlds
Something People Would be Surprised to Know: He was an All-American gymnast for the University of Michigan back in the 1970s.
