COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — In a vote of eligible USA Fencing members, Nona Lim and Greg Husisian have been elected to the USA Fencing Board of Directors as at-large directors. Their four-year terms begin Sept. 1, 2026.

Lim is an athlete, parent and Veteran World Team member who represented the United States at the 2024 Veteran World Championships in Dubai. An entrepreneur and board leader, she founded and grew a national food company before selling the business after more than a decade, and she previously served as Board Chair of the Specialty Food Association, a national trade organization. Having lived and fenced in several countries, she returned to the sport after more than a decade away to compete as part of the U.S. veteran fencing community.

In her candidate statement, Lim wrote that her priorities come "both from my own experience in the sport and from these conversations with members across the community," pointing to the referee pipeline, transparency and accountability, and sustainable growth at every level of the sport.

Husisian is a fencing parent who has served as Chair of the USA Fencing Ethics Committee and was one of the founding members of the Parents' Council. A litigation partner at a major law firm, he writes the "What Every Fencing Parent Should Know" blog and has given seminars for new fencing parents at NACs.

In his candidate statement, Husisian wrote that "fencing parents are one of the largest and most invested constituencies in our sport," and that he hoped to bring that perspective, along with his experience navigating complex governance issues, to the Board.

Phil Andrews, USA Fencing CEO, says he looks forward to working with the new board members.

"Congratulations to Nona Lim and Greg Husisian on their election to the Board of Directors," he says. "I look forward to collaborating with them as two of our 12 voting board members. We are grateful to all members who participated in the election, to every candidate who put their name forward, and to Molly Hill, Damien Lehfeldt and Abdel Salem OLY-EGY for their service on the Board."

The two new directors join Jeremy Sirota, a global music executive and fencing parent who was appointed to a vacant at-large seat by the Board of Directors in February, with a term also beginning Sept. 1, 2026.

Three at-large director positions were open as part of the 2026 election. As stipulated in the USA Fencing Bylaws, two seats were filled through an election by the membership, and one seat was filled through Board appointment. These seats were previously held by Molly Hill, Damien Lehfeldt and Abdel Salem OLY–EGY.

How We Got Here

The election process began when the nomination window opened, followed by the Nominating Committee's announcement of its initial slate of candidates and a call for petitions. Following the petition deadline, the final ballot was set with seven candidates competing for the two open seats.

The general election opened May 13, 2026. After more than two weeks of voting, the election closed at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on May 31, 2026.

To determine the winners of the two open seats, voting was conducted using a preferential voting system known as the Borda Count, as required by the USA Fencing Bylaws. In this system, each ballot assigns points to candidates based on their ranking, and the two candidates with the highest combined point totals are elected.

Final Results

A total of 3,323 eligible members cast ballots, representing a turnout of 19.80%. By comparison, the 2024 election drew 2,334 votes from 12,092 eligible members, a turnout of 19.30%.

The final point totals were as follows:

Under the Borda Count, a first-place ranking is worth 7 points, a second-place ranking 6 points, and so on down to 1 point for a seventh-place ranking. Nona Lim and Greg Husisian received the highest combined point totals and were elected to the two open at-large seats.
