USA Fencing Recognizes Regional Patch Winners

(Colorado Springs, Colo.) – USA Fencing is pleased to announce the patch winners for the Regional Youth Circuit, Regional Junior and Cadet Circuit and Regional Open Circuit.

Recognizing more than 550 fencers, RYC patches are awarded to the top Y10, Y12 and Y14 fencers throughout the 2018-19 season in their respective region while the RJCC Recognition Program recognizes the gold, silver and bronze medalists in the cadet and junior age categories.

New this season, the ROC Recognition Program honors Division IA, Division II and veteran fencers for their achievements at ROCs throughout the country.

Nearly 100 fencers earned multiple patches with 179 total clubs represented.

Among the multi-patch winners was Jeidus DeSeranno (Grosse Point Shores, Mich.), who swept the Y10, Y12 and Y14 men’s foil RYC gold patches in Region 2 as well as the top position in the Regional Cadet Circuit Standings.

Four fencers each won three gold patches.

Amelia Wu (Fresno, Calif.) won women’s épée gold in the Y14, cadet and junior categories in Region 4. Kruz Schembri McCord (Haines County, Fla.) earned both the Region 6 Y12 men’s épée and foil golds as well as the Y14 men’s foil gold. Gabrielle Gebala (San Jose, Calif.) also earned golds in multiple weapons, claiming the Y10 women’s foil and épée titles as well as the Y12 foil title in Region 4. John Griffin (Sugar Land, Texas) earned top honors in the cadet and junior Region 5 field as well as the Div IA men’s foil ROC rankings.

Patches will be mailed throughout the month of June. To purchase additional patches, please visit the registration desk at the USA Fencing National Championships and July Challenge in Columbus, Ohio. Availability is limited.
