(Colorado Springs, Colo.) – In conjunction with the U.S. Fencing Coaches Association, USA Fencing is pleased to offer two coaching clinics at the National Championships and July Challenge in Columbus, Ohio.

Led by two members of the U.S. Fencing Hall of Fame, five-time Olympian Michael Marx (Concord, Mass.) will host the first session on July 2 while 1984 Olympian Vincent Bradford (Fort Worth, Texas) will hold the second clinic on July 3.

Both seminars will take place from 6-7:30 p.m. in Room C 161B.

Marx’s clinic will include an hour of lecture, covering topics benefiting coaches of all skill levels, including the funnel method, athlete-centered coaching and deliberate practice. Marx will conclude with a 30-minute open forum focusing on coaching as well as coaching education.

Marx won eight Division I National Championships in foil and was named the 2018 USA Fencing High School Coach of the Year.

The chair of the U.S. Fencing Coaches Association’s Professional Development Committee, Bradford became the first woman to win national titles in foil and épée in the same year in 1984. She also is one of three women in the United States who have earned their three-weapon Fencing Masters Certification.

Titled Developing and Promoting Women in Fencing Coaching, this clinic will begin with a brief history of women in fencing before moving into an interactive discussion on current barriers and solutions for female coaches.

Click here to sign up for the clinics. USA Fencing members receive a discounted rate of $75 per session or $130 for both. The cost for non-members is $150 per clinic. All registrations must be made online.
