Erica Hamilton.

(Colorado Springs, Colo.) – As part of USA Fencing’s commitment to promoting diversity, equity and inclusion in the sport of fencing throughout America, we are pleased to announce the hiring of its first-ever DEI consultant, Erica Hamilton

The founder and principal of the Memo I Never Got, a venture dedicated to creating safe and brave spaces that enables BIPOC and women leaders to realize their full potential, Hamilton holds more than two decades of experience as a DEIB strategist, executive leadership coach and strategic advisor. Through MING, Erica works with leaders, teams, and enterprises to create new initiatives shaped with input from a diverse group of stakeholders.

Hamilton was selected through a nationwide search that was conducted by a committee of USA Fencing constituents that included Olympians Nzingha Prescod and Kat Holmes, Board President Donald Anthony Jr. and Daria Schneider, an athlete representative on the board of directors as well as representatives from the National Office.

In her role with USA Fencing, Hamilton will help launch the organization’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Resource Team as well as facilitate sessions with the board of directors, National Office and Athlete Advisory Council to assess the organization’s DEI priorities, concerns and needs and develop a roadmap for future plans and initiatives. She also will conduct an audit of organizational policies, procedures and marketing practices and make recommendations for revisions leveraging a DEI lens.

Based out of New York City, Hamilton received her Bachelor’s degree in government from Harvard University and went on to earn her MBA from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School and her Master’s of Public Administration from New York University.

“We are looking forward to working with Erica and the MING team as we continue to advance USA Fencing’s commitment to ensuring our culture, policies and practices promote equity, inclusion and belonging within the USA Fencing community,” said USA Fencing CEO Kris Ekeren
