(Colorado Springs, Colo.) - The Federation Internationale d’Escrime has announced that the 2021 Zonal Championships will be postponed until after the Olympic Games.

Per the FIE announcement: “The potential risks associated with COVID-19 and the possible consequences such a short time before the Olympic Games, at a time when the situation and restrictions in place still vary greatly from one continent and country to another, do not allow to consider less strict and restrictive health protocols, nor to guarantee equitable conditions for all.”

The FIE also announced that points earned at the 2019 Zonal Championships will remain on the Senior World Rankings List that is used to seed the Olympic Games.
