Summer Nationals Cap and Qualification Update

(Colorado Springs, Colo.) -- In order to provide additional competition opportunities for fencers at Summer Nationals, the National Office and Tournament Committee have expanded maximum capacity limits for two events and qualification pathways for all Y14 and Y12 events. 

Both cadet men’s epee and cadet men’s foil caps will be increased to 273 competitors. 

Y14 and Y12 qualification paths have been updated as follows: 

Y14 National Championships

  • Be on the Youth 14 National Point Standings at the regular entry fee deadline OR
  • Earn at least 100 (prev. 150) Y14 Regional Points during the current season or  the 2019-20 season (Total points in a season = an athlete’s top three point results) OR
  • Rank in top 40% (prev. 25%) percent of the Y14 Regional Point Standings list during the current season

Y12 National Championships

  • Be on the Y12 National Point Standings at the regular fee entry deadline OR
  • Earn at least 70 Y12 Regional Points during the current 2020-21 season or  the 2019-20 season (Total points in one season = an athlete’s top three point results) OR
  • Earn at least 100 (prev. 150) Y14 Regional Points during the current 2020-2021 season or  the 2019-20 season (Total points in one season = an athlete’s top three point results) OR
  • Rank in top 40 percent of the Y12 Regional Point Standings list during the current season
