(Colorado Springs, Colo.) – The Federation Internationale d’Escrime announced on Monday that the 2021 Veteran World Championships has been postponed.
Scheduled to be held from Oct. 8-13 in Daytona Beach, Fla., the Vet Worlds were awarded to the United States in 2018 and would have drawn the world’s best fencers age 50 and older from more than 50 nations.
On Sept. 17, the FIE will determine whether the tournament will be rescheduled for January or cancelled.
Should the Vet Worlds be rescheduled for January of 2022, athletes selected for Team USA at the Vet Nationals in Atlanta over the weekend will retain their positions on the Veteran World Championship Team. No further selection events will be held.
Additional information will be posted as it becomes available.
