USA Fencing

At USA Fencing, your voice matters. That’s why we have established four new community councils — each designed to give a voice to groups that have historically been underrepresented within the fencing community. If you would like to elevate attention to these critical issues that will help support the continued implementation of USA Fencing’ Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging, we invite you to apply to join one of the following represented community councils:

African American + Black Heritage Community Council

The African American + Black Heritage Community Council will act as an advisory council to leadership. Together, this group will meet bi-monthly to help USA Fencing identify initiatives to ensure we are highlighting the experiences of the Black community, understanding what the community would like to see from our organization, and fostering a safe space where everyone can enjoy the sport of fencing.

The council will be composed of 8 to 10 athletes, coaches, referees, community, and thought leaders who identify as Black or African American and can help evoke positive sustainable change for the Black fencing community.

Asian Heritage Community Council

The Asian Heritage Community Council will act as an advisory council to leadership. Together, this group will meet bi-monthly to help USA Fencing identify initiatives to ensure we are highlighting the experiences of the Asian community, understanding what the community would like to see from our organization, and fostering a safe space where everyone can enjoy the sport of fencing.

The council will be composed of 8 to 10 athletes, coaches, referees, and thought leaders who identify with the Asian community and can help evoke positive sustainable change for the Asian fencing community.

Hispanic + Latino Heritage Community Council

The Hispanic + Latino Heritage Community Council will act as an advisory council to leadership. Together, this group will meet bi-monthly to help USA Fencing identify initiatives to ensure we are highlighting the experiences of the Hispanic + Latino community, understanding what the community would like to see from our organization, and fostering a safe space where everyone can enjoy the sport of fencing.

The council will be composed of 8 to 10 athletes, coaches, referees, and community and thought leaders who identify as Hispanic or Latino and can help evoke positive sustainable change for the Hispanic + Latino fencing community.

Women’s Empowerment Community Council

The Women Empowerment Community Council (Empower HER) will act as an advisory council to leadership. Together, this group will meet bi-monthly to help USA Fencing identify initiatives to ensure we are highlighting the experiences of all women, understanding how USAF can best support the development of women, and fostering a safe space for women everywhere can enjoy the sport of fencing.
The council will be composed of 8 to 10 women athletes, coaches, referees, and community and thought leaders who can help evoke positive sustainable change for women in the fencing community.

Pride+ Community Council

Fencers may recall that in June, we called for nominations for the Pride+ Community Council. This resource group will meet bimonthly to help USA Fencing ensure we are highlighting the experiences of the LGBTQ+ community, understanding what the community would like to see from our organization, and fostering a safe space where everyone can enjoy the sport of fencing.
