Twenty-four Team USA fencers will make an important stop in the quest for qualification to the 2024 Paris Olympic Team in a competition featuring the best fencers from the America zone of the FIE (International Fencing Federation).

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — After a slight break from competition, the Senior World Team is back and ready to take the world stage. The spotlight is now on Team USA at the Pan-American Senior Championships as they look to earn results that will be crucial in their quest for a spot on the 2024 Paris Olympic team.

From June 15 to 20 in Lima, Peru, over 150 athletes from over 10 countries will take each other on to earn their qualification to Paris. The team comprises a powerful mix of established champions and rising stars. These athletes have demonstrated their expertise at both domestic and international levels, solidifying their positions as some of the world's best fencers.

This promising lineup, strengthened by their stellar record and consistent performances, is set to face the best from the region as they seek to bring home medals and establish their places in the fencing world. A strong performance from Team USA could improve both the individual and team rankings, putting our fencers in a strong position as the Paris Olympic qualification period continues.

Follow along closely to the team events in the second half of the tournament because the opportunity to field a full team of 24 athletes for Paris is based in part on our ranking within the America zone of the FIE. A good showing in the Pan-American Senior Championships team competition will put the United States in a stronger position as the FIE season continues, including next month at the Senior World Championships in Italy.

The 2023 Pan-American Senior Championships will be an opportunity for these established athletes to solidify their place on the team for Paris. It’s also a chance for them to show the rest of the zone their skills, dedication and passion for the sport of fencing and for Team USA.

In Peru, Team USA will try to match or surpass their medal table-topping performance from last year in Paraguay, where the Americans brought home 15 medals. Of those who medaled at last year’s Pan-American Senior Championships, Alexander Massialas OLY, Eli Dershwitz OLY, Lee Kiefer OLY, Jackie Dubrovich OLY, Gerek Meinhardt OLY, Nick Itkin OLY, Kat Holmes OLY, are all returning to the world stage with Team USA.
