USA Fencing Names Teams for Junior and Cadet World Championships

(Colorado Springs, Colo.) – USA Fencing is pleased to announce the roster of athletes that will compete at the Junior and Cadet World Championships in Moscow, Russia from March 31 – April 8.

Team USA includes 16 veterans of the 2011 Junior and Cadet squads, including six returning medalists in men’s and women’s foil.

Athletes were named to the team based on their position on the USA Fencing National Team Point Standings at the conclusion of the Junior Olympic Fencing Championships in Salt Lake City on Monday.

The junior team includes three athletes in each of the six weapons that will compete in the individual event as well as a fourth athlete who will be included in the team event.

As there is no team event at the Cadet World Championships, there are three individual athletes in each of six weapons who constitute the cadet team.

Three alternate athletes are named for each weapon squad.
