Cross, Kiefer and Prescod to Compete in Table of 64 in Tauberbischofsheim

(Colorado Springs, Colo.) – Beijing Olympic medalist Emily Cross (New York City, N.Y.) advanced through the pools and two direct elimination rounds on Friday to qualify for the table of 64 at the Tauberbischofsheim Foil World Cup in Germany.

Cross, who finished 2-4 in the pools, won her bout against Katharina Schult (GER), 15-7, in the preliminary table of 128 and defeated Olivia Wohlgemuth (AUT), 15-8, in the next round.

Cross will compete in the table of 64 on Saturday with U.S. teammates Lee Kiefer (Lexington, Ky.) and Nzingha Prescod (Brooklyn, N.Y.)

Kiefer, a 2011 Senior World medalist, and Prescod, the 2011 Junior World Champion, earned exemptions out of the preliminary rounds as the #6 and #15-ranked athletes in the world, respectively.
