(Colorado Springs, Colo.) – Nicholas Vomero (Centerport, N.Y. / St. John’s University) earned his best career international finish on Sunday when he placed seventh at the World University Games in Shenzhen, China.

A 2010 NCAA All-American, Vomero won five of his six pool bouts and entered the table of 64 as a 15th seed.

After a narrow win over Ido Herpe (ISR), 15-14, Vomero advanced to the table of 32 where he defeated Piotr Kruczek (POL), 15-12.

In the table of 16, Vomero won his next bout against Dmitriy Alexanin (KAZ), 15-10.
