(Colorado Springs, Colo.) – Daryl Homer (New York City, N.Y.) and James Williams (New York City, N.Y.) both advanced to the table of 16 at the Warsaw Saber Grand Prix in Poland on Sunday.

The 2010 Senior World Teammates led a group of six U.S. athletes that all qualified for the table of 64 at the conclusion of the pool and preliminary rounds on Saturday.

Ranked as the top athlete coming out of the pools with a 6-0 record, Homer won his opening bout against Benedikt Wagoner (GER), 15-12, on Sunday. Williams, a 2008 Olympic silver medalist in the team event, defeated Oleg Shturbarbin (RUS), 15-12.

In the table of 32, Homer earned a one-touch win against Jaime Marti (ESP), 15-14, and Williams won his bout against James Honeybone (GBR), 15-11.

The win moved Homer into the table of 16 for the first time since he placed 12th at the 2010 Senior World Championships and Williams’ first trip to the 16 since the Olympic qualification period began in April.

In their final bouts of the day, Homer lost to three-time World medalist Nicolas Limbach (GER), 15-11, and Williams was defeated by Joseph Polossifakis (CAN), 15-11.

Spear finished 29th after an opening win over Aliaksandr Buikevich (BLR), 15-1, and a loss in the table of 32 to 2009 World silver medalist Rares Dumitrescu (ROU), 15-5.
