Lindsay Campbell Finishes 25th at Budapest Epee Grand Prix

(Colorado Springs, Colo.) – Four-time World Team member Lindsay Campbell (Brooklyn, N.Y.) earned the top finish for Team USA at the Budapest Epee Grand Prix when she placed 25th on Sunday.

Campbell, who advanced to the table of 64 after winning five of six pool bouts on Saturday, edged Tiffany Geroudet (SUI), 15-14, in her opening bout on Sunday.

In the table of 32, Campbell nearly upset Magdalena Piekarska (POL), the top-ranked women’s epee fencer in the world, but lost the bout, 15-12.

With a perfect six-for-six finish in the pools on Saturday, 2010 Senior World Team member Courtney Hurley (San Antonio, Texas) was the only other U.S. fencer to advance to Sunday’s competition. Twenty-year-old Hurley was seeded 19th, but lost her opening bout to Malgorzata Stroka (POL) and placed 38th.
