Board of Directors Seeking Candidates

USA Fencing Board of Directors Solicitation Notice

 

The Nominating Committee of the United States Fencing Association (“USFA” or “USA Fencing”) is giving notice to the membership that it is currently seeking candidates for four members of the Board of Directors who will serve terms of two years commencing on the first day of September in the year 2011.  The Nominating Committee will select two candidates for each position to stand for election by the membership in 2011. The available positions include the following, per USA Fencing’s Bylaws:

 

  • Two (2) At-Large Directors, who shall be voting members of the USFA in good standing;
  • One (1) Club Director, who shall be a voting member of the USFA in good standing who is elected by the membership. To be eligible for selection as Club Director, an individual must have established continuous affiliation with a USFA member club and shall have demonstrated familiarity with the responsibilities of club ownership and operations;
  • One (1) Volunteer Staff Director, who shall be a voting member of the USFA in good standing who is elected by the membership. To be eligible for selection as Volunteer Staff Director, an individual must have demonstrated sustained involvement with and expertise in some aspect of national or international level competition or administration and may not be an employee of the USFA.. 

 

To apply for nomination for one of these positions, please submit your resume detailing your education, work experience, skills, and involvement in USA Fencing, along with a cover letter detailing why you wish to serve on the Board and why you believe USA Fencing would benefit from your service.  In addition, all candidates for a position on the Board of Directors must sign a qualifying affirmation.  Please provide with your application the following signed and dated statement:

           

            “As a member of the Board of Directors of the United States Fencing Association I agree and undertake to adhere to high ethical standards and to avoid conflicts of interest.  I acknowledge my fiduciary duties of loyalty and care to the United States Fencing Association and understand that those duties supersede my personal interests and the interests of any individual person, group, faction or entity. I pledge to devote the full extent of my knowledge, experience and ability in good faith to advance the purposes, objectives, integrity and betterment of the United States Fencing Association.”
