(Colorado Springs, Colo.) – London Olympian Nicole Ross (New York City, N.Y.) placed 21^st at the Budapest Foil World Cup in Hungary on Saturday.

Seeded 16^th at the start of the event, Ross was exempt from the pools and preliminary rounds on Friday and defeated Olena Khismatulina (UKR), 12-3, in the table of 64 on Saturday.

In the table of 32, however, Ross lost a close bout to Viktoria Kozyreva (RUS), 15-13.

Fencing in a World Cup event for the first time in two years, Notre Dame sophomore Madison Zeiss (Notre Dame, Ind.) earned her first ever top-64 result at a European Senior World Cup event.

After a 3-3 result in the pools on Friday, Zeiss defeated Kelleigh Ryan (CAN), 15-9, in the preliminary table of 64.

In the table of 64, Zeiss drew 2009 Senior World Champion Aida Shanaeva (RUS). The more experienced Russian won the bout, 15-6, and Zeiss finished in 59^th place.
