(Colorado Springs, Colo.) – The U.S. Women’s Saber Team won bronze at the second team world cup event of the season on Sunday in Gent, Belgium.

The win was the second medal of the weekend for two-time Olympic Champion Mariel Zagunis (Beaverton, Ore.) who took gold in the individual event on Saturday.

Zagunis was joined in the team competition by two-time Senior World Team medalists Dagmara Wozniak (Avenel, N.J.) and Ibtihaj Muhammad (Maplewood, N.J.) as well as 17-year-old Sage Palmedo (Portland, Ore.) who just qualified for her second Junior World Team on Saturday.

Seeded second in the tournament, Team USA defeated both Venezuela and Hungary by 45-24 margins in the table of 16 and quarter-finals, respectively.

In the semifinals, the Americans lost to a Korean team, 45-35, that upset third-ranked Ukraine in the table of 16.

Team USA rebounded for a bronze medal win over Azerbaijan in the final bout, 45-34.
