(Columbus, Ohio) – USA Fencing is pleased to announce the locations for four national events to be held during the 2013-2014 season.

The domestic season will begin with the October North American Cup which will take place in Milwaukee, Wis. which has been home to multiple major events during recent seasons, including the 2010 November NAC and 2012 December NAC. Competition will take place at the Wisconsin Center in downtown Milwaukee and will include cadet, Y14, Division II and wheelchair events. The cadet competition will feature many of our nation’s top athletes ages 17 and under who will be competing in a tournament that will play a key role in the selection of the 2014 Cadet World Team.

Home to the Junior Olympic Fencing Championships in 2004, Cleveland will host the November North American Cup from Nov. 8-11 at the newly renovated Cleveland Convention Center. Division I and junior events will be held at the November NAC. The Division I event will be the first domestic point competition for athletes looking to qualify for the 2014 Senior World Championship Team while the junior (U20) competition will count towards 2014 Junior World Team selection.

In December, the NAC circuit will head to Dallas, Texas where the December NAC will take place at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in downtown Dallas. The host of the 2013 USA Volleyball Junior National Championships, this convention center has also been the site of numerous major USA Fencing events, including the North American Cup C and Junior Olympic Fencing Championships in 2011. The December NAC will include Division I, cadet and veteran (ages 40+) events – all of which will be used for 2014 team selection.

For the first time, the USA Fencing Division I and Wheelchair National Championships and April North American Cup will be held in Minneapolis, Minn. at the Minneapolis Convention Center. The National Championships will include the best fencers in the United States, including 2012 Olympians and Paralympians as well as hopefuls for the 2016 U.S. Team. Nearly 1,000 additional fencers will compete in the April North American Cup in Division II and veteran competition. In addition to individual events, team competitions will be held for Division I fencers at the National Championship and veteran athletes at the April NAC.

“Working with our housing partner, PSA, we received a number of excellent bids for next season’s events and are pleased with the selections we have made for four of our most prestigious domestic events,” said USA Fencing CEO Val Belmonte (Colorado Springs, Colo.) “Each of these cities has promised strong local support as well as first-class facilities for our athletes, families and fans.
