(Colorado Springs, Colo.) – Two members of the 2014 Junior World Team earned top-64 finishes at the St. Petersburg Foil World Cup in Russia on Thursday.

Jackie Dubrovich (Riverdale, N.J.), a Columbia sophomore and three-time Junior World medalist, finished the pool rounds, 4-1, on Wednesday and earned a bye into second day of competition.

In the table of 64, Dubrovich’s bout against Kelleigh Ryan (CAN) went into overtime with the score tied at five touches each. Ryan scored first for a 6-5 win and Dubrovich finished in 41st place.

Massialas, a 2013 Cadet World medalist, went 3-3 in the pools and won her preliminary round over Edith Lubeigt (FRA) to move on to the table of 64.

On Thursday, Massialas lost her opening bout to Martyna Synoradzka (POL), 15-8, and placed 49th overall.

Team USA does not have an entry in the women’s team competition in St. Petersburg; however, 2013 Senior World medalists Miles Chamley-Watson (New York City, N.Y.), Alexander Massialas (San Francisco, Calif.) and Race Imboden (Brooklyn, N.Y.) will fence in the Grand Prix event on Sunday. All three athletes are ranked in the top 16 and, therefore, exempt from the pools and preliminary rounds on Saturday.
