(Colorado Springs, Colo.) – Two-time Olympian Kelley Hurley (San Antonio, Texas) won her first individual World Cup medal on Saturday when she took bronze in St. Maur, France.

The win is the first individual World Cup podium finish for a U.S. women's epee fencer since 2003. 

Hurley, a 2012 Olympic team medalist, fenced in the pools on Friday where she went 6-0 to earn the 18^th seed in the table of 64 on Saturday.

Hurley opened the competition with wins over a pair of Germans – Anja Schuenke and 2004 Olympic silver medalist Imke Duplitzer – by scores of 15-12 and 15-14, respectively.

In the table of 16, Hurley fenced teammate Rebecca Chimahusky (Wheaton, Md.) With the score tied at 11 in the third period, the two fencers doubled out to 14 before Hurley scored the final single touch for a 15-14 win.

Hurley’s success continued in the quarter-finals where she defeated 2013 Senior World Team Champion Yana Zvereva (RUS), 15-13.

Hurley’s semifinal bout came down to the final touches, but she was outscored by Rossella Fiamingo (ITA), 15-13.

A four-time individual medalist at the Pan Am Championships, this is Hurley’s first individual World Cup medal and the win moves her into the No. 1 position in the U.S. women’s epee national team rankings.

Fencing in her first Senior World Cup, Chimahusky finished in 14^th place with wins over Dominika Mosler (POL), 15-14, and Ana Maria Constantin (ROU), 6-5, before her loss to Hurley.

London Olympic team medalist Courtney Hurley (San Antonio, Texas) and two-time Junior World medalist Kat Holmes (Washington, D.C.) each advanced to the table of 64.

Courtney Hurley lost to two-time reigning Junior World Team Champion Tatiana Gudkova (RUS), 14-9, and finished 46^th.  

Holmes placed 62^nd after a 15-13 loss to 2013 Senior World silver medalist Anna Sivkova (RUS).

On Sunday, the Hurleys, Holmes and 2014 Junior World Team member Amanda Sirico (Bowie, Md.) fenced in the team competition.

Team USA lost to France, 43-38, in the table of 16, but rebounded with three straight wins in the 9^th – 16^th place table.

After a 45-27 win over Canada, Team USA defeated Switzerland, 45-39. In their final bout of the day, the Americans defeated Korea, the 2012 Olympic silver medalists, 40-33, to finish in ninth place.
