(Colorado Springs, Colo.) – Iman Blow (Brooklyn, N.Y.) won her first career Junior World Cup medal during the opening tournament of the women’s foil season in Timisoara, Romania on Saturday.

Blow, a 2014 Cadet World Team member, won silver in just her third appearance ever on the Junior World Cup circuit.

After an undefeated run in the pools, Blow earned a bye into the table of 32 where she defeated Corina Damaschin (ROU), 15-6.

Blow won her next bout, 15-11, over two-time Cadet World Team member Morgan Partridge (Swansea, Mass.) to qualify for the quarter-finals.

Blow was one of three Americans in the quarters and was joined by 2014 Youth Olympic Games Champion Sabrina Massialas (San Francisco, Calif.) and cadet fencer Samantha Viqueira (Maplewood, N.J.)

Massialas was upset by Malina Calugareanu (ROU), 15-4, and Viqueira lost to two-time Cadet European Team Championships Elisabetta Bianchin (ITA), 15-8.

In the semifinals, Blow won her bout against Bianchin, 15-9. She fenced Calugareanu in the gold medal final, but ended the day with a silver medal after a 15-1 loss.
