November NAC Comes to Louisville this Weekend

(Colorado Springs, Colo.) – More than 1,500 athletes, including hopefuls for USA Fencing’s National Teams, will compete at the November North American Cup in Louisville, Ky. from Nov. 7-10.

The November NAC will be held at the Kentucky International Convention Center and is a key selection tournament for the 2015 Junior and Cadet World Championships which will be held in April.

Competition will include junior (U20), cadet (U17) and Y14 age groups with events held in all three fencing weapons: epee, foil and saber.

All events are free and open to the public.

Among the athletes fencing in Louisville will be at least five medalists from past Junior and Cadet World Championships, including:

  • Francesca Russo (Wayne, N.J. / Saber), 2013 Junior World Team Champion and 2014 Junior World Team bronze medalist
  • Justin Yoo (La Verne, Calif. / Epee), 2014 Junior World bronze medalist and Cadet World silver medalist
  • Axel Kiefer (Lexington, Ky. / Foil), 2014 Junior World team silver medalist
  • Ariel Simmons (Bellaire, Texas / Epee), 2013 Cadet World Champion
  • Sara Taffel (New York City, N.Y. / Foil), 2012 Cadet World silver medalist
