Team USA I defeated Japan, 45-35, to advance to the quarter-finals where the Americans edged Russia II, 45-44, as one of three U.S. teams in the top eight.

Fencing for Team USA IV, the squad of Joe Taylor (Chicago, Ill.), Wolf Crouse (Conroe, Texas) and Gabriel Bronfman (Orinda, Calif.) defeated Norway, 45-36, to advance to the semis.
