USA Fencing

Dear USA Fencing Members,

The USA Fencing Nominating Committee is pleased to announce the names of the candidates who have been selected to run for election to the Board of Directors:

At-Large Directors (two to be elected)

Donald Alperstein (Denver, Colo.)

Jeff Salmon (Mount Sinai, N.Y.)

** Please Note: Other candidates may be added to those listed above, as the bylaws also permit nomination by petition.

Congratulations to the nominees, and many thanks to all potential candidates who participated in the process. Decisions were based on a number of factors, including the strengths and weaknesses of all applicants; whether candidates demonstrated a clear understanding of the role of the board of directors; and candidates’ past board experience and/or applicable business background. In addition, the nominating committee took into account the balance of talents and skills already on the board and areas in which the board has room to grow.  

The committee members were Jimmy Moody (athlete representative elected by the athlete council), Wes Glon (elite coach), Ivan Lee (national tournament official and Olympian), Steve Sobel (past president of USA Fencing) and Stephen Trevor (past USA Fencing independent director).

The Nominating Committee will be submitting an official report in the coming weeks to the USA Fencing Board of Directors.  

The process now moves to the Election Committee who will be establishing the timing of the election this spring, the rules for the posting of electioneering materials on the website and the method of balloting.  Details will be communicated via email and posted on www.usfencing.org as they become available.
