(Colorado Springs, Colo.) – On May 6, the USA Fencing Board of Directors approved the lineup of committees, resource teams and task forces for the 2015-16 season.
A Committee Working Group was created in September to focus on the operational effectiveness of USA Fencing’s committees, resource teams and task forces.
“I want to thank David Blake, Mary Griffith, Lorrie Marcil-Holmes and Kris Ekeren for all the time and effort they put in over the past few months in examining our current structure and making recommendations for improvements that will ultimately improve our organization as a whole,” said USA Fencing President Donald K. Anthony Jr. (Columbus, Ohio). “We have had dozens of great people sit on our committees, task forces and resource teams this year and I am continuously grateful for all of their work. With the updated structure in place next season, I’m excited to welcome new people into our committee system and for the opportunities that lie ahead.”
All USA Fencing members who are interested in becoming more involved are encouraged to submit an application to sit on a committee, task force or resource group. Click here to submit your application by June 22.
“Each year, USA Fencing volunteers and staff dedicate thousands of valuable hours to helping grow the sport of fencing and improve the organization by participating in committees, task forces and resource teams. What many people I talk to may not know is how diverse our committees are. Whether you’re a fencing coach, a former athlete, a member of the bout committee or an IT person, there are committees that can use your help and expertise,” said Lorrie Marcil-Holmes (Washington, D.C.), a USA Fencing Board member who sits on the Disciplinary Review Committee and is a Board liaison to the Ethics Committee.
The Committee Working Group also requested feedback and information from the committees, resource groups and task forces to revise their charters which will be updated as the strategic plan evolves.

“USA Fencing’s volunteers are the lifeblood of our organization. On behalf of the National Office, I would like to thank everyone who has served our committees this year and look forward to working with each of these groups next season,” said USA Fencing Executive Director Kris Ekeren (Littleton, Colo.)
