After careful consideration, CoSport has made the decision to forego the previously planned live sales phase and instead open a second ticket request phase starting on June 3rd and ending June 10th.

Requests may be submitted beginning at 9 a.m. Eastern Time on June 3rd and ending at 4 p.m. Eastern Time on June 10 to be considered.

The decision to make this change is based on unprecedented demand for tickets that rivals both Beijing 2008 and London 2012 coupled with a limited number of tickets made available for the U.S. market – for USOC Family and Team USA fans – by the Rio 2016 organizers. 

A second request phase, in place of a live sales event (first come, first served) at this time will ensure the utmost fairness.

The second request phase will be open June 3 and close on June 10 and will include only tickets that were not purchased in the first request phase as well as new inventory secured from Rio 2016.

The timing for this second phase of ticket requests and confirmation is as follows:

• Request Phase 2 launch – Wednesday, June 3, 2015
• Request Phase 2 finish – Wednesday, June 10, 2015
• Request Phase 2 ballot for oversubscribed events – Thursday, June 11, 2015 – Friday, June 12
• Request Phase 2 Confirmation period -  Monday, June 15, 2015 – Friday, June 19, 2015
