USA Fencing is pleased to announce that Donald Alperstein (Denver, Colo.) and Laurie Schiller (Deerfield, Ill.) have been elected to the Board of Directors by the organization’s membership.
More than 1,300 members voted in the election for two At-Large Directors via an on-line election that concluded at 11:50 p.m. Mountain Time on Friday.
Alperstein, who earned 760 votes, previously served as USA Fencing’s president from 1996-2000 and acted as the organization’s general counsel through 2013.
Schiller, head coach at Northwestern University, has served on the board for the past six years and earned another two-year term with 736 votes.
Incumbent board member Jeff Salmon (Mt. Sinai, N.Y.) came in third with 647 votes.
Salmon’s current term on the board will expire on Aug. 31. Alperstein and Schiller will begin their new terms on Sept. 1.
