(Colorado Springs, Colo.) – Three-time Olympic foil fencer Ann Marsh-Senic (Royal Oak, Mich.) has been elected to the USA Fencing Board of Directors as an athlete director.

Marsh-Senic is filling the remainder of the term that was recently vacated following the recent resignation of 2012 Olympian Doris Willette (Lafayette, Calif.)

The election for the position was held electronically from June 1-15 and was open to fencers who meet at least one of the following criteria: represented the United States within the past 10 years at the Olympic Games, Pan American Games or Open World Championships; finished in the top 50% at the Div I Nationals during the past 24 months; or represented the United States at the Paralympic Games or Open Wheelchair World Championships.

Marsh-Senic is one of three athlete directors on the board, including 2004 Olympian Cody Mattern (Portland, Ore.) and two-time Senior World team medalist Daria Schneider (New York City). All three athlete directors will hold their positions through Aug. 31, 2016.

One of the best foil fencers in the United States during the 1990s, Marsh-Senic competed at the 1992, 1996 and 2000 Olympic Games, placing fourth with Team USA in Sydney and winning bronze in the team event at the 2001 Senior World Championships.

Now undefeated as a veteran fencer in the 40-49 age category, Marsh-Senic also fences at the Division I level where she placed in the top eight at the 2014 USA Fencing National Championships and earned a position as the fourth alternate for the 2014 Senior World Team.

A graduate of the University of Rochester School of Medicine, Marsh-Senic is now an emergency room doctor in Pontiac, Michigan.
