Update on USA Fencing National Championships Competition on July 8

UPDATE 6:45 a.m.: Due to the tragedy in downtown Dallas on Thursday evening that has now become the deadliest attack on U.S. police officers since 9/11, the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center will be closed for business to all events on Friday, July 8.

USA Fencing will be unable to hold the final day of competition at the USA Fencing National Championships today. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of all involved in last night’s tragedy.

Full entry and registration fee refunds will be granted to all participants in the Y10 men’s epee, Y12 men’s foil, Y12 women’s saber, Y10 men’s saber, Y10 women’s epee and Y10 women’s foil events.

UPDATE 5:40 a.m.: We are currently meeting with local authorities and will post an update regarding the tournament shortly.

USA Fencing is aware of the tragedies that occurred in Dallas on Thursday evening and our thoughts and prayers are with everyone involved.

Competition at the USA Fencing National Championships was scheduled to begin with a check-in time of 7-8 a.m. on Friday morning.

Due to the circumstances in downtown Dallas, check-in time for the Y10 men's épée, Y12 men's foil and Y12 women's saber events will be extended to conclude at 10 a.m.

Check-in for the Y10 men's saber, Y10 women's épée and Y10 women's foil events will conclude at 2:30 p.m. for all three events.

We are continuing to work with local authorities and will post additional updates regarding the status of the tournament on Friday morning at 5 a.m. Central Time.

Any individuals who are unable to compete will be granted a full refund. Please email nationalevents@usfencing.org to withdraw or for any questions.
