USA Fencing Introduces New High School All-American Program

(Colorado Springs, Colo.) – USA Fencing is pleased to announce the creation of the High School All-American Program, which will recognize the success of the best high school fencers in the nation.

The criteria for selection into the program is as follows:

  1. Must be a current USA Fencing Competitive, Professional, Lifetime or High School Member.
  2. Must be in 9-12th grade at a secondary school or in a homeschool program.
  3. Must have earned an E rating or higher in the current fencing season (After August 1, 2016).
  4. Must be in good academic standing at their school.
  5. Must have displayed exceptional character as an athlete, a student and a community member.

There will be three levels of recognition available: First Team, Second Team and Honorable Mention.

  • USA Fencing First Team All-American: Must have earned or renewed an “A” or “B” during the current competitive season and satisfied other requirements listed above.
  • USA Fencing Second Team All-American: Must have earned or renewed a “C” or “D” during the current competitive season and satisfied other requirements listed above.
  • USA Fencing Honorable Mention All-American: Must have earned or renewed an “E” during the current competitive season and satisfied other requirements listed above.

Ratings changes must be earned no later than May 7th, 2017 and must be submitted by May 12, 2017.

Selections will receive a certificate of achievement and recognition in USA Fencing communications. In addition, All-American Team members can promote their accomplishment on their resumes and college applications.

Applications for the 2016-17 season are due by April 15, 2017. Each application will require the fencer to submit a transcript and a letter of recommendation from his or her fencing coach, as well as pay a $25 application fee.
