Bill Korbus Joins USA Fencing Staff as Director of Marketing

(Colorado Springs, Colo.) – USA Fencing is pleased to welcome Bill Korbus (Colorado Springs, Colo.) to the National Office staff as the organization’s new director of marketing.

A veteran of the sporting industry who has worked with the U.S. Olympic Committee and several National Governing Bodies, Korbus has more than 30 years of experience in sports as a marketing lead and business owner who also has worked in special events and sales.

Korbus began his career in the motor sports industry as a professional racer who went on to serve as the team manager for Chevrolet’s Baja 1000 winning Nelson & Nelson Racing and later worked with Ford Motor Company in a variety of areas that included the implementation of motorsport promotions and sponsor procurement for Ford’s North  racing program.

A former senior manager of sports alliances for the McDonald’s Corporation, Korbus was responsible for contracting with partners that included NASCAR and CART and was responsible for managing an eight figure annual budget while integrating McDonald’s motorsports properties within the overall brand strategy.

Korbus joined the Olympic family for the first time in 2002 as the associate director of marketing for the U.S. Olympic Committee where he was responsible for merchandise licensing and sponsor activation, working with partners that included Nike, Polo Ralph Lauren, Visa, Adidas and Roots.

Since founding his own company in 2009, Korbus has worked with a number of sports organization to procure sponsorships and develop and enhance sports properties, including the USOC, USA Swimming, U.S. Figure Skating, the Haas Formula I Team and the Professional Bull Riders.

We’re very excited to have Bill join USA Fencing and he has already brought a wealth of ideas and energy to our team in the National Office,” said USA Fencing Executive Director Kris Ekeren (Littleton, Colo.) “We are looking forward to Bill working not only with our existing partners, but playing a key role in the growth and promotion of fencing throughout the United States.”
