Karen Cogan to Host Sport Psychology Seminar in Richmond

USA Fencing Coaching Education is pleased to announce that sports psychologist Karen Cogan, Ph.D. will be conducting a free seminar in Richmond, Va. on Friday, April 20 from 5 – 6:30 p.m.

The seminar will be held in Room E23 AB at the Greater Richmond Convention Center on the opening day of the USA Fencing Division I / Wheelchair National Championships and April North American Cup.

“Sport Psychology Tools: Managing Energy for Optimal Performance During Competition” will outline sport psychology strategies for managing energy during fencing competition. Breathing techniques, mindfulness practice and imagery will be discussed and practiced in this session to assist athletes in finding their personal energy balance.

The session is structured for athletes, but coaches can benefit from knowing these techniques as well

Dr. Cogan is a sport psychologist with the United States Olympic Committee and works with the USA Fencing National Team.
