2018 USA Fencing Election to Include Board, Referee and Hall of Fame Voting

(Colorado Springs, Colo.) – The 2018 USA Fencing Election, to be conducted online from May 2-23, will include voting opportunities for one At-Large Board Director, three Vice Chairs for the Referees’ Commission and inductees into the 2019 USA Fencing Hall of Fame.

Two individuals running for election as an At-Large member of the USA Fencing Board of Directors are:

  • Lorrie Marcil Holmes
  • Ro Sobalvarro

Board of Directors Candidate Statements

Four athletes and three coaches will be eligible for induction into the 2019 USA Fencing Hall of Fame:

Athlete Candidates (Four to be Elected)

  • Paul Apostol
  • Dick Berry
  • Ed Donofrio
  • Hal Goldsmith
  • Dan Kellner
  • Dan Magay
  • Sean McClain
  • Steve Mormando
  • Jon Normile
  • Rob Stull

Coach Candidates (Three to be Elected)

  • Jerzy Grzymski
  • Elliot Lilien
  • Semyon Pinkhasov
  • Bill Reith
  • Jeff Wolfe

Hall of Fame Candidate Bios

Any USA Fencing member age 18 or older in good standing as of February 1, 2018 and who belongs to a membership class that includes the right to vote is eligible to vote in the elections for both the Board of Directors and Hall of Fame.

The following individuals are running for the three open Vice Chair Positions on the Referees’ Commission:

Domestic Assignments and Development (One to be Elected)

  • Marcus Balog
  • Dan Crocket

International Assignments and Development (One to be Elected)

  • Kelly Koehler

Rules and Exams (One to be Elected)

  • Devin Donnelly

Referees’ Commission Candidate Statements

The three open Vice Chair positions will be filled by a vote of referees who have worked at least one regional or national level event in the 2016-17 or 2017-18 season. The names of the three winners will be provided to the USA Fencing President for submission to the Board of Directors.  

All eligible voters will receive their log-in details for the online election via e-mail.
