The 2019 Summer Nationals will be held in Columbus, Ohio.

(Colorado Springs, Colo.) – USA Fencing is pleased to announce the host cities for the 2018-19 national events season.

Columbus, Ohio has been awarded the 2019 USA Fencing National Championships and July Challenge. The largest fencing tournament in the world will take place at the Greater Columbus Convention Center from June 28 – July 7, 2019. The tournament broke attendance records when Summer Nationals were last held in Columbus in 2013 and 2014. Since then, Columbus has been the home of dozens of national and international sporting events, including the 2018 NCAA Women’s Final Four Basketball Championships.

The road to Columbus will kick off the 2018-19 season with the October North American Cup in Milwaukee, Wis. which will be held from Oct. 12-15, 2018. In the event following the 2018 Senior World Championships, Olympians and Paralympians will be among the competitors fencing for gold at the Wisconsin Center in this tournament that includes Division I, Division II, cadet and wheelchair events.

Kansas City, Mo. will host the November North American Cup with junior, cadet and Y14 fencers competing at the Kansas City Convention Center from Nov. 9-12. Kansas City previously hosted the nation’s top juniors and cadets at the 2017 USA Fencing Junior Olympic Championships.

In December, athletes will compete in 60+ events at the December North American Cup in Cincinnati, Ohio. The event will be the first NAC in Cincinnati since the March NAC was held in the Queen City in 2012. The tournament will take place from Dec. 14-17 at the Duke Energy Center and will include Division I, Division II, veteran and senior team events.

USA Fencing will return to Charlotte, N.C. for the first time in more than a decade when the January NAC comes to the Charlotte Convention Center from Jan. 4-7. The January NAC will serve as the penultimate domestic qualifier for the 2019 Senior, Junior and Cadet World Championship Teams and will include Division I, junior, senior team and wheelchair competitions.

The 2019 Junior Olympic Championships return to Denver, Colo. after a 10+ year absence. The home of the 1989 Senior World Championships, Denver will welcome junior and cadet fencers who will compete for National Championship titles and positions on the 2019 Junior and Cadet World Team. Held at the Colorado Convention Center in downtown Denver from Feb. 15-18, the tournament will include individual events for cadets and both individual and team events for juniors.

The circuit will stop in Cleveland, Ohio for the March North American Cup from March 1-4. Formerly the host of the 2016 Junior Olympic Championships, Cleveland will host youth fencers in the Y10, Y12 and Y14 categories at the Cleveland Convention Center.

The 2019 Division I / Wheelchair National Championships and April North American Cup will be held in April with further details to be released at a later date.
