USA Fencing Recognizes Fencers Who Earned or Renewed a Rating in September

(Colorado Springs, Colo.) – USA Fencing is pleased to recognize USA Fencing members who earned or renewed their USA Fencing rating during the month of September.

More than 450 athletes from 185 clubs earned or renewed their ratings in September. Athletes ranged in age from 10-year-old Felice Hu (CAN) who earned her E18 to 61-year-old David Johnson (San Jose, Calif.) who earned a B18. The following ratings were awarded in September:

  • A18: 57
  • B18: 76
  • C18: 105
  • D18: 82
  • E18: 133

Fencers Club led all programs with the most ratings awarded in September with 10 athletes earning foil ratings and one athlete earning an epee rating. SCAD-Atlanta Fencing led the way for A-rated fencers with four athletes earning an A18.

Two athletes earned ratings in multiple weapons in September. Glenn Schicker earned his first career USA Fencing ratings with a C18 in epee and an E18 in foil after winning gold in foil and bronze in epee at the Neil Lazar Vet ROC. Jonathan Wang scored E18s in both foil and saber at the Multiple Event U Meet.  

Fencers can earn ratings at local, regional or national USA Fencing sanctioned events. Recognition will be based on the month in which the rating earned is posted by the USA Fencing National Office.
