Kris Ekeren joined USA Fencing in June of 2011 as a veteran of the sports industry with 20 years of experience working with non-profit and government organizations.
In August of 2013, she was promoted from director of member services to interim executive director and was named executive director by the board of directors in December of that year.
Ekeren came to USA Fencing following an eight-year tenure at the National Sports Center for the Disabled where she served as the vice president of national programs.
Ekeren also has a wealth of experience in the parks and recreation realm, previously holding roles as the youth sports director and Apex Center Manager with the Apex Park and Recreation District in Arvada, Colo. as well as the and athlete and aquatics manager for the City of Oklahoma.
Ekeren is currently the 2nd Vice Chair for the Association of Chief Executives of Sport (ACES) – an organization whose members include the CEOs and executive directors of 60+ National Governing Bodies within the Olympic family.
Ekeren earned her bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Oklahoma and master’s in sports management from OU.
