Detailed Job Description:

Instructs and teaches athletes in fundamentals of fencing, coaches technique and strategy. Assists in selection of team members and recruiting activities in compliance with conference, NCAA, and OSU rules and regulations. Assists the head coach in the coordination of administrative areas of program management including, but not limited to, scheduling of competitions and practices, travel plans, equipment. Monitors academic progress of student athletes; audits information from academic support services, ensures compliance with conference, NCAA, and University rules and regulations.

Duties Description:

60 Instructs and teaches athletes in fundamentals of the sport, coaches technique and strategy. Develops practice and game plans through the use of video, scouting and creation of drill and skill exercises while ensuring the safety and well being of the student-athletes. Teaches leadership and provides life skills instruction to team members. Provides mentoring and
support for student athletes.
40 Assists in selection of team members and recruiting activities in compliance with conference, NCAA, and OSU rules and regulations. Maintains database and files of recruits. Meets with high school athletes and parents. Assists the head coach in the coordination of administrative areas of program management including, but not limited to, scheduling of competitions
and practices, travel plans, equipment. Monitors academic progress of student athletes; audits information from academic support services, ensures compliance with conference, NCAA, and University rules and regulations. Participates in development activities and media relations for the Women's Swimming program, the Dept of Athletics and the University.
Attends staff meetings, training sessions, and other programs. May serve on committees and advisory boards. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Education Requirement:

Bachelor's Level Degree or equivalent educ/exp  
#1 Major: education #2 Major: health phys educ & recreation


Additional Education Desired:

Master's Degree or equivalent educ/exp  
#1 Major: education #2 Major: health phys educ & recreation


Experience: 

Coaching experience and extensive knowledge of the sport of fencing at the intercollegiate level required; Knowledge and experience working with NCAA rules and regulations desired.
