Get Involved as a Member of the USA Fencing Balanced Leadership Task Force
USA Fencing is seeking members to join our Balanced Leadership Task Force — a group of members focused on ensuing further gender equity in USA Fencing, especially with regards to our governance structure.
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — In its current edition, the USA Fencing Board of Directors includes seven women and nine men.
That’s a sign of promising progress, but it shows we still have work to do as we aim to reach USA Fencing’s goal of governance that reflects the diversity of our membership.
That goal is the driving force behind our new Balanced Leadership Task Force — a group of members focused on ensuing further gender equity in USA Fencing, especially with regards to our governance structure.
Applications for this Task Force are open now through Sept. 26, and anyone can apply here.
Through regular meetings and email correspondence, the group will look at gender equity throughout the USA Fencing organizational structure. That includes USA Fencing governance (our Board, committees and other leadership positions), staff, tournament officials and more.
Change won’t happen overnight. But in the mantra of “progress, not perfection,” we’re hoping to create an environment where women, men and non-binary individuals have a seat at any table (virtual or otherwise) where USA Fencing decisions are made.
