Hyped up crowds, milestone moments, and all around good fencing, day two of the NAC was a success.

ORLANDO, Fl. -  As day two of the October NAC has wrapped up, seven more fencers were crowned gold medalists to open the season. The crowd at the October NAC got fired up for the gold medal matches, cheering on their fellow fencers to success.

Among the seven earning a gold medal on day two was Mitchell Saron (New York Athletic Club / Bergen Fencing Club). He is using his momentum for this tournament to keep pushing forward, eyeing the 2024 Paris Olympics. In winning the Division I Men’s Saber category, the gold medal match drew quite the crowd. Saron used the crowd from the round of 32 all the way to the finals strip as an motivation, the crowd was “definitely an incentive.”

While some use the crowd as an incentive, Maia Weintraub (Fencers Club Inc. / Fencing Academy Of Philadelphia), says she “tries to tune it out a little bit.” She continued saying “that’s when you are fencing the best, when you don’t actually realize anything going on in the background.”

To wrap up the day Mohamed Elsayed (Long Island University NCAA) earned himself a milestone moment as he won his first NAC since coming to the United States. This was such a special moment for Elsayed as he said “this was the toughest competition I have ever done,” after starting at 8 am in the first round of pools and having to do all of that a second time.
