Registrations for the first regional tournaments of the 2024-25 season are now live! As you plan your regional schedule, here are two key updates to help you navigate the signup process smoothly.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — We’ve got good news and great news.

The good: With nearly 100 regional tournaments on the 2024-25 Regional Tournament Calendar, there’s no shortage of competitive opportunities for the 2024-25 season.

The great: The registration window for some of the first regional tournaments of 2024-25 has opened, meaning you’ll be out there on the strip in no time.

As you begin planning your regional schedule for the upcoming year, we’re sharing a few updates on changes you will see during the regional tournament signup process. Here’s what you need to know.

1. Age Verification Required Before You Can Register

Let’s start with the big news. Starting this season, USA Fencing has streamlined the age verification process for all regional and national tournaments.

Age verification, which has long been required, often took place onsite at tournaments. This new update requires age verification to be completed prior to the event registration process, making it more convenient for everyone involved.

Please note that you won’t be able to register for a regional (or national) tournament until your age verification is complete. To save time down the road, we suggest submitting your documentation for verification right now.

How to upload your documentation:

For more details on this process and the rationale behind the change, read our detailed article on age verification.

2. Admin and Credit Card Processing Fees Now Appear Separately

This season, you’ll notice two separate fees when registering for events: an admin fee and a credit card processing fee. The processing fee was previously merged with the admin fee but is now itemized for transparency and because we’re using a different credit card processor this season.

What these fees cover:

  • Credit Card Processing Fee: Covers the cost of processing your payment. Paying by credit card is convenient, but that convenience comes with a cost as credit card companies charge a per-transaction fee to those receiving the payment. The Credit Card Processing Fee you pay goes directly to the tournament organizer to cover these associated costs.

  • Admin Fee: Supports the administration of regional events, including insurance, platform maintenance, and recognition programs for top performers.
