(Colorado Springs, Colo.) – USA Fencing is pleased to announce that two of the world’s premier fencing equipment companies have signed on to sponsor the FIE Grand Prix Boston which will be held at Harvard University from Dec. 12-13.

“The Grand Prix series includes the world’s most elite fencers and it is only fitting that Absolute Fencing Gear® and Radical Fencing, two of the best fencing equipment companies in the world, have partnered with USA Fencing to host this premier event. Absolute first came on board as a title sponsor when we held the Sabre World Cup in 2013 and we are excited Gary Lu and his team continue to support USA Fencing.” said USA Fencing Executive Director Kris Ekeren (Littleton, Colo.) “Radical Fencing’s founder, Philippe Bennett, has played a key role in helping bring this tournament to Harvard and we are looking forward to working with Radical to make this a great event.”

Absolute Fencing Gear®, which served as the inaugural title sponsor for the 2014 FIE Grand Prix when the event was held in New York, has returned to the event for a second year as the title sponsor for this year’s FIE Grand Prix Boston.

This year, the Grand Prix will feature more than 300 of the world’s best men’s and women’s sabre fencers from at least 30 countries. The tournament will serve as an Olympic qualifying event for the 2016 Olympic Games and is the only Grand Prix to be held in the United States this season and the only sabre Grand Prix to take place in either North or South America in 2015-16.

“Absolute Fencing Gear® is very proud to be named again as the title sponsor for the 2015 FIE Grand Prix Boston to be held this year at Boston’s prestigious Harvard University. We are committed to ongoing support for USA Fencing and developing fencing in the United States, and we are excited to be part of Team USA,” said Absolute Fencing Gear® President Gary Lu (Bridgewater, N.J.), himself a four-time NCAA All-American fencer at Penn State University.

Owned and operated by Lu and his mother, fencing coach Amanda Ronning (Bridgewater, N.J.), Absolute Fencing Gear® was founded by the family 10 years ago and has provided equipment for major events, including the 2011 World University Games and the 2015 Pan American Games. Absolute Fencing Gear® also has been the official tournament equipment supplier for USA Fencing since 2012 and provided tournament equipment for all eight of USA Fencing’s annual national events.

Radical Fencing will join the sponsor family for the Grand Prix as an official sponsor of the most prestigious international tournament to be held in the United States.

Founded in 2014 by owner Philippe Bennett (New York City, N.Y.), an NCAA All-American at Harvard who represented Team USA on both the senior and veteran international circuits, Radical Fencing is based out of New York City and has developed cutting edge fencing equipment, apparel and fencing floor surfaces.

“Radical Fencing is very proud to be a lead sponsor of this international fencing Grand Prix competition and to have helped bring this event to one of the world’s great universities. Radical Fencing has one simple mission: to offer fencers the best and to lead in the innovative design of the next wave of equipment for the core fencer. We wish all of the competitors in Boston good luck and will see you in Rio!” Bennett said.
