Job Description:
This job is a position for the coach of the Oberlin College Flaming Blades (OCFB), Oberlin College’s club fencing team. Applicants will be expected to attend practice once a week, and instruct fencers from a beginning to intermediate level. Our club’s fencers all know the basics of fencing, but we do not have any USA Fencing rated members. Contracts are created for every academic semester, and will need to be renewed on a biannual basis. All contracts are handled through Oberlin College’s Office of Student Involvement.


Responsibilities:
Applicants will need to:
- Be available to coach once per week at team practices
- Provide one on one instruction to fencers
- Instruct the OCFB in a variety of practice techniques, warm ups, and blade drills
- Observe fencers during bouts and provide constructive feedback on their performance
- The ability to travel with the OCFB to tournaments is preferred, but not required
- Contribute to a supportive, collaborative team environment


Qualifications:
- Applicant must be capable of coaching all three blades: Epee, Foil, and Saber
- Applicant must be capable of coaching left-handed fencers
- USA Fencing Coach Membership
- USA Fencing rating of C or higher in at least one blade
- Around 10 years of fencing experience and around 2 years of coaching experience
