Feldman coaches at Nazlymov Fencing Foundation and is heavily involved on the Bout Committee at NACs. She attended the FIE Budapest Academy in 2018, so we asked her about her learning experience overseas.

In terms of the Budapest Academy, what motivated you to give up four months of your life and attend? 

I felt I needed more coaching education and this program was the perfect vehicle to immerse myself into a focused, learning environment.

What were a couple of key takeaways from the academy? 
I learned about fencing programs in other countries from my fellow coaches, compared to how clubs are run in the U.S., and developed connections with coaches from all over the world.

What did you learn new that you have put into practice? 
Each participating coach had to run group practices and I discovered many games and exercises that I'm using in my current classes.
