What to Expect Before, During and After a Competition

Before

  • Register for the event through the USA Fencing portal
  • Check which points are used for selection via the International Calendar
  • Ensure all equipment is FIE compliant
    • Check requirements on www.fie.org or with any vendor at a NAC
  • Passport is valid 6 months before departure
  • Squad Manager will hotel and flight suggestions when available
  • Did you pack your whites and at least 3 blades?
  • Did you keep your whites, mask, glove, body cords,  & shoes in your carry-on?
  • Do you have enough Euros for entry fee payments?
  • In case of lost items, have a photocopy or photo of your passport & ID.
  • Pack snacks for travel and during competition and outlet adapter for the country of travel

  • Check for rideshare options in that country 

  • On the selection and logistics email, there is a link provided for warm-up purchase.  

  • Effective Sept. 1, 2021, maraging steel blades will be required for all weapons at all FIE events. The EFC will require maraging blades for all events on Jan. 1, 2022.

During

  • Designated Coach will provide check in times
  • Weapon check & registration day before or morning of
  • Arrive at venue at least 1-2 hours before start time
  • Pools may be flighted, but check in during posted check in time
  • Check pools the night before
  • Bring passport with you to check in for the tournament
  • Be mindful of your surroundings at all times
  • Check with Designated Coach regarding Team event
  • Squad Manager and/or organizer registration will provide return to airport transport details

After

  • Check updated ranking on the Current Points Standings
  • Receive hotel & transportation invoice from USA Fencing
